Managers have the most direct influence on employees they line manage. They carry the responsibility for aligning the performance of their department and its staff with overarching organizational goals. They play a vital role in shaping organizational culture.
The role of the manager in the workplace is perhaps the most significant in terms of impact on organizational performance. Managers have the most direct influence on employees they line manage. They carry the responsibility for aligning the performance of their department and its staff with overarching organizational goals. They play a vital role in shaping organizational culture.
Fundamentally, they are the link between senior management and those operating at grass-roots level.
Before we explore the ways in which a manager can impact on business results (and how to get that right) it’s worth stepping back and reminding ourselves what the role of a manager actually is.

A manager as the name implies, manages the affairs of the organisation. A good manager is required in an organization for effective management. Effective management brings about positive output. It is not alright for a manager to just command, like being bossy though he should take the final decision but that is after seeking the opinions or contributions of his employees as they all make up the organization. For smooth running of the business a manager and other employees should have good rapport.

A good manager should check on his staffs to know how they are doing, he should know how well they are keeping up with their assignments, if they need more ideas or more hands. He should ask questions. He should know when a worker is being overworked from home or work activities . Giving out assignments to emotionally troubled or stressed worker can yield low output or something worst.

He/she should be kind to the workers, however, not forgetting he is the boss and still makes the final decision.

A manager should be humble and give people opportunity to take on a task .

Management should always work towards helping the organization and how to encourage them in any way either by setting up cooperative that can help financially or the management can also set aside some money out to be given to workers as loan and to be deducted from their salary every month and the deduction should not be too high so as not to affect the worker.Things like this make worker to be more dedicated to work and also focus on their work.
