Requirement for good housing

for you to have a better and good housing the following should be considered.​

1. Site of the house
2. Soil condition
3. Proper sanitation

1. Site of the house:​

Care should be taken in the selection of site for the house. Site means location and surroundings of the house. One should consider some important points while deciding about the location of the house.

1. The house should be located in such a place where the members of the family can enjoy plenty of fresh air, light and sunrays.
2. Proper ventilation, good water supply and sufficient space should be there.

3. Very tall trees or high buildings should not be very close to the house, because these will prevent fresh air and sunlight from entering the house.

4. The house should be located on a high ground and in an open space as this will provide plenty of fresh air and natural light into the house.

5. The house should not be built at the bottom of the hill because there may be heavy flow of water from the hill during rainy season which will affect its durability. The deposition of water in the low-lying area makes the house damp.
6. There should not be any pools of water, river, canal or ponds around the house, because this becomes the breeding place of mosquitoes. The family members may be attacked by the disease malaria.

7. Some nice and beautiful trees should be at an adequate distance from the house. These trees will protect the house against the strong currents of wind and enhances the beauty of the house.

8. The house should not be built on the top of the hill as it is exposed to severe cold.

9. There should not be any factory or industrial area near the house as the air in this area becomes polluted and filthy. This are some of the requirement under site.

My take on the construction of the house is the architectural design. The architect is the one who is in charge of the layout regarding the site and the structure. For a site that is sloping the design should be appropriate. There was a residential village here that was built by the sloping mountain side. The architect was after the aesthetic of the design and did not give a defense on the safety of the house regarding the slope. When there was severe rain the village went down with the landslide. The name of the village is Cherry Hills which incident claimed lives due to bad architecture.

The construction of the house is done by the engineer but still the basis is the architectural design. The engineer can alter the materials if he thinks that a thicker iron bar is needed for more safety. In other words, you need to the architect and the engineer for the housing requirements.
