A retired person’s primary concern is not really money unless he has no pension. For the middle class or even lower middle class a retiree would often engage in an activity just to be occupied. Gambling and drinking are the top 2 in the list.
There are good hobbies that a retiree can get involved with.
1) Fishing for fun that is usually a trip with friends. It can be like a picnic that would take the whole day for the activity.
2) Joining the exercise group in the village which is usually in the morning or late afternoon.
3) A membership in the church organization like a choir or a lay minister.
4) Engaging in sports activities as a coach, trainer or manager
5) Organizing civic activities such as community pantry or feeding program.
