2The workplace is a place where people come together to work towards a common goal. While they do this, they also bring their own personal biases and prejudices, which can be harmful when they stand in the way of productivity. Here are some ways that companies can maintain peace in the workplace:
1. Create a diverse workforce: Diversity is not only about gender and race, it includes age, religion, sexual orientation, health status and more. A diverse workforce helps decrease bias by giving employees from all backgrounds an opportunity to interact with one another on an equal playing field.
2. Have clear policies for harassment: Having a clear policy for harassment will help employees understand what is considered inappropriate behavior and how to report it if they encounter it at work.
3. Encourage employees to speak up when they see or hear something inappropriate: Employees should feel safe coming forward with their concerns so that the company can address them promptly before anything escalates into something worse than just inappropriate behavior, like sexual assault or violence against another employee.
