• License your name: Some designers do this by creating their own licensing company and selling their designs under their name as part of it. They retain ownership of the designs and make money from royalties on sales of the products.
• Work for a big company: Designers without their own brands can sometimes get contracts with big companies who will pay them a salary plus commission on sales of their designs.
•Hire out: You can also just hire out your services as a designer (either freelance or through an agency) to various companies wanting new lines or an update on their existing lines.
•Create a professional website: Designers are always looking for new ways to express themselves creatively. A website provides a great way for potential clients to see your work and get a feel for your personality. Make sure your website looks good on mobile devices and that it's easy for people to share the things they like about it on social media.
Be sure to include information about who you are and what makes you unique as well as examples of past projects. You can also add blog posts with updates about your business, helpful tidbits about fashion design, or even tutorials on how to sew (or whatever else).
