Blogging can be a lucrative career only when you have the skills required for blogging. Here are three essential skills to become a blogger and make money as a blogger.

Web design skills: As a blogger, you need to design a blog, and you also have to constantly work in the back end. Therefore, web designing skill is essential.

Writing: Blogging actually means writing and publishing online. Therefore, writing skills are essential in order to become a blogger and succeed as a blogger.

SEO and Digital Marketing: A blog needs traffic, and a blogger will earn from his blog only when there is traffic. Traffic does not start pouring immediately, you need to do SEO and digital marketing in order to build traffic. While work for SEO begins from the time you start writing (you need to do keyword research and topic research), work for digital marketing starts as soon as you have published your blog post.

I think you do not need to learn web design to become a blogger. Many platforms offer free templates these days. Any hosting or domain platform for blogging can give you even better templates when you buy your service. Free blogs cannot be monetized by Google Adsense, and most of the alternatives are not easily searchable in Google or any other search engine, so even good SEO will not work. When you actually need a domain, hosting, etc., then just grab the free web design feature that is provided to you. Even cheap platforms offer good design just for promotion.

If you're interested in becoming a blogger, or if you already are one, you probably know what three skills are required for success. But we can't help but notice that the list is missing something:

Attention to detail.

You're going to have to pay attention to your work. You'll need to make sure that every post is perfectly polished and error-free, and that each post has a clear call to action. If people don't know what they can do next after reading your post—if they don't get the message—then you've failed.

A deep knowledge of social media platforms.

It's not enough just to be able to use Facebook; you'll also need to understand how Twitter works and be able to write engaging tweets on your own (or hire someone who can do it!). And while Snapchat is still new territory for many bloggers, there's no way around learning how it works and using it effectively.

An understanding of SEO best practices.

Search engine optimization (SEO) is kind of like grammar—it's not something you can just "get." It takes time and effort and commitment.

You need web design skills, web designing is not only related to writing codes, it is also related to using content management systems. If you know wordpress, you can easily design a blog. If you don't want to use wordpress there are website builders that offer drag and drop feature where creating a blog will be as simple as writing an email. Your host might give you access to free website builders, however, if you are using a paid option, your blogging cost will go high. If you are new, you should try to keep your expenses minimum. Second important skill you need is writing skills. However, before you sit to write, you will also have to do keyword research and this calls for another set of skills. You need to find proper keywords and use these keywords on yoru posts to increase the chances of rankling your blog high on the search engines.
