Agriculture is the cultivation of crops and rearing of animals for the benefit of man. there are a lot of problems facing agribusiness in Nigeria. one of the major challenges agribusiness is facing in Nigeria is the constant clashes between herders and farmers. The most disturbing fact about this is that the government is not doing enough to curtail the nefarious activities of these herdsmen.

There are many problems that farmers encounter from time to time. From herdsmen clashes issues to bad weather conditions but the most pressing issue is access to credit facilities. Farmers struggle to get loans and when they do, interest rates are ridiculously high or loan conditions can not be met.

Agriculture is a good business enterprise of crop plantation, crop processing, animal productions (livestock) and marketing. Despite the fact that it plays important role in food supply and it creates employment opportunities for unemployed youth and women in our society, the challenges the Enterpreneurers are facing on daily basis is too enormous. The first and the deadliest challenges is farmer and cow herdsmen clashes which has resulted into untimely death of thousands of farmers while some farmers has flied their farmland and move to some other business because of the security challenges they are facing. A lot of farms land has been destroyed by cows and the farmer has no power to confront the herders or else he or she will pay with his or her life. Just Recently, a A Doctor Who have passion for agriculture came to his village to invest in the sector but was hacked to death by herders in his farm. The most painful aspects is that the government doesn't see this issue as an important issues to address in time. For how long will farmers continue to died in the hand of some criminal elements that are mascurading as herders. If we want the agricultural businesses to be more viable and attractive, the government must provide security for farmers or else inflation is looming. Let me drop my pen here to allow the contributors to state the challenges that is facing Agric business in there area or country.

The following are the challenges facing agric- business in my country:
Lack of basic amenities
Poor road transportation network to move farm produce from the farm to urban area.
Lack of storage facilities to store and preserve some perishable crops.
Only the rich can afford Mechanized farming.
Lack of information on how to improve on their crop yield, some farmers don't have to seedlings that are new breed.

Lack of credit facilities is the biggest in nigeria........
This is a major problem of agribusiness in Nigeria. Farmers in Nigeria encounter several challenges in securing loan for their agricultural production. Most of the credit facilities available are mostly from the Federal Government through the agricultural banks which most times carry conditions the farmers are unable to meet.
Due to corruption, agricultural banks had in the past, given agricultural loans to civil and public servants who are not farmers thereby compromising the loan.

Challenges being faced by agricultural businesses in my country is multifaceted. These range from climate change, government policy, nonexistence infrastructure and financial structure to perennial farmers and Herder's incessant clashes. These challenges have negative impact on food production and even the economy of my country. Other minor challenges are lack of access to good roads and loans for agricultural business startups.

I agree with you all in all your contribution but the major issue affecting farming business in Nigeria is insecurity most especially the crop farmers. There are some farmland that's not accessible again in the northern part of the country because of the activities of cattle rustlers, banditry and Boko Haram attacks. There are some farmers today, if they can have assurance of security of there life and property from the government. They are okay.

Aside other factors another problem mitigating against farming is that farmers are not giving due recognition. The are tagged as poor class people which is not like that in the developed world. This has really make so many to back out of Agriculture because nobody likes to be tagged as poor.
Another problem is that farmers lacks adequate and latest information regarding what they are into for instance so many of them still don't know about improved seeds that can bring about more harvest, they lack information about funding even if it is provided they are not aware so at the end of the day the non farmers will share the money.

Another challenge faced is the issue of funding and also storage. Most farmers especially the young ones have interest and ready to work hard but they get discouraged when they don't get adequate funding. Storage is a very big issue as well, there is not proper arrangement for storage, and the products keep getting wasted and spoilt since there is no preservation.

most of the agricultural people and farmer worker do not have support of the government and not giving private sectors they are helpless and they are working just by themselves with their own efforts and money if they face this type of challenges so I think they are most powerful people who can start any type of work without helping for help of anyone but I think they are facing this very really and it should not be happen because facing challenges in life is very important because by doing this week become bold and brave but at one time we need support of a government and their institutional sector to help us and give us motivation to work any how in any condition.

Agriculture in Nigeria suffers greatly because of the lack of developed infrastructure. For example in the rural area where most of the farmers operate without good infrastructure in place, is a major problem, as it affect investment, trade, and agricultural production. This
problem is mostly caused by the government, as the government favours urban development over rural development by a great margin. The lack of infrastructure continues because of bad political leadership, poor governance, government neglect, poor maintenance culture and poor funding. Electricity, safe water and health facilities is often not enough for those living in the rural area, as the urban area is favoured more by the government.
I agreed with you absolutely, farmers should also be encouraged by government by putting in more allocation into farm practice. Embark on trainings also for the Farmer because some of them are still using stone age methods of farming and it produce little output compare to their input and economic demands.

Agricultural practice as lucrative as it is faced with a lot of challenges which are always a discouraging tools. One of the major problems in my own country and developing countries is the fact that there is no ready made market for farm products as it is for crude oil and this discourage large scale production.

The lack of storage and processing facilities affect both national food security and household food security. Even when there is a lot of harvest and the production of farm product seem enough, because of lack of good storage it will still lead to food scarcity as the food will not be available or be in a good condition when it’s time for consumption. Good storage and processing are required to ensure that food is available in good condition when ever it’s required. Simple and effective method for storing perishable food like tubers, fruits and vegetables are not really developed and well known in Nigeria when compare to that of grains. Storage is a problem for Nigeria as a large number of food produce perishes, because of the lack storage and processing facilities.
I think it's high time the farmers form of strong cooperative and made contributions to acquire processing and storage facilities. they should not wait for government to come to their aid. If they wait for the government, they may wait till eternity. Although the government will promise to help them but that promise may not see the light of the day.

What's of the challenges facing agricultural business in Nigeria and lack of professionals who are going into the business and also sometimes the government policy does not support farmers no provisions of agricultural facilities, loans that have been made for farmers I've been looted by most people who are under the government do to favoritism and family reason the loot does loan and use it 4 their own self issues rather that the main purpose that is meant for.

It is sad to learn that the average age of farmers here is nearing 60 years which means there are no young farmers anymore. Maybe that is due to the small earnings of the farmers. The government has neglected agriculture in our country so the students are aiming for other work instead of the farm. When the time comes that there are no more farmers then we might be importing food and that would be expensive.

The major challenges facing agriculture businesses in Nigerian is transportation and storage. Those are the two major challenges farmers have in Nigeria. A lot of farmers after harvesting their agricultural produce find it difficult to transport it to industries for processing of the agricultural produce to finished goods. And lot of farmers lack adequate storage facilities for storage of agricultural produce to be exported.
