If you're thinking about running for weight loss, then it might be time to reconsider. Running is a great way to build up your endurance and get in shape, but it's not a great way to lose weight. Studies show that running can help you lose weight, but it doesn't work as well as other forms of exercise like swimming or jogging.

One study from the American College of Sports Medicine tested 20 obese people over a two-year period and found that those who ran for 30 minutes at 75 percent of their maximum heart rate lost an average of 5 pounds more than those who did not exercise at all. However, another study showed that participants who exercised with high-intensity interval training (HIIT) lost more weight than those who ran long distance or did moderate-intensity cardio.
