AIIMS, India's largest government hospital, located in the capital city of Delhi, has had its server down since November 25th. According to the country's largest news agency, PTI, there has been a ransomware attack on the AIIMS server, and hackers have demanded a ransom of Rs 200 crore ($24.5 million) in cryptocurrency.

Sensitivity
Although the police have denied the ransom claim, that might be due to pressure because the data of famous personalities, politicians, and VIPs is present on the servers. All data is indicative.

Incident
Security agencies have been investigating the server since the problem was reported, and this has revealed that AIIMS did not have firewalls and antivirus software to protect against such threats.

Post Incident
After this incident, every computer installed in the institute is being formatted. The work of uploading new software has also begun by removing the old software from every computer system. Antivirus is being installed on computers and servers.
