Blockchain technologies and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) cannot be integrated with the platform of the well-known sandbox video game Minecraft. The Japanese entertainment giant Square Enix, on the other hand, recently revealed its NFT initiative. Minecraft creator Mojang Studios, which is owned by Microsoft, declared on Wednesday that it would not embrace NFTs and other blockchain technologies due to concerns about fraud and digital exclusion.
According to a statement from Mojang, blockchain technologies are not permitted to be included inside our client and server programs, nor may in-game content like worlds, skins, character goods, or other mods be leveraged by blockchain technology to create a rare digital asset. Some businesses have lately produced "NFT implementations that are related with Minecraft World files and skin packs," and that there might be "collectible" NFTs for Minecraft, which players might acquire by actions taken on a server or outside of the real game," Mojang continued. The company asserted that these actions undermine Minecraft's core ideals by encouraging digital exclusion and scarcity.
