In order to generate sales, you need traffic, you can build traffic through two methods, one, through SEO, and two, through marketing. There are two different marketing methods, one, a free marketing, and two, a paid marketing, or advertising to be precise.

For a lot of people, SEO is not a viable method t generate sales because no matter how hard they try, they cannot rank their store and generate organic traffic. While advertising will help you generate sales because by spending money on ads, you will be able to reach the target audience and generate sales, paid advertising is not the only way to generate sales. Free marketing methods like email marketing and social media marketing can also help you with sales. But in order to work with these free methods, you need a huge following on social media and have a huge email list. If you already have 100k followers on instagram, you don’t need ads to generate sales.

If you have a tight budget, then it's quite ok to try generating sales without marketing or advertising. However, in the critical early growth stage of a new business, this can slow down growth, and in a situation where there's significant advertisment from competition, you'll be left behind.

There are ways to achieve success and one of them is to ask for referrals. People trust those they know more than an ad they see.

If you have a blog or website, you can boost traffic to get more eyes on your offers by creating relevant SEO optimized content. If you can position yourself as an expert and get people to consider you before anyone else, it's a good strategy. You can also use social media buttons and actively ask them to share with others.

Another means is to create your own promotional material. You can easily learn a couple copywriting tricks you can use to polish your ads or content.

You can generate sales without advertising only on one condition, that is you already have an audience. You can build an audience on social media or subscribers to your email list. Let's say you have 100k followers on Instagram. If you promote on Instagram, and even if 1 percent of people bought your product, you will have 1000 sales, if you made just $1 profit from each sale, you will have $1000 in sales. So, practically speaking, you managed to make $1000 profit without spending a single dime on advertising. The same technique also applies to email marketing. If you already have a huge email list, you can directly send your products to your subscribers and generate sales without spending money on ads. However, in order to build an audience on social sites or email subscribers, you might have to spend money on ads. However, this is just one time investment, though
