Many times when a child reaches 20years , they are no longer covered by their parents insurance and this can lead to a troubling situation if they are not working and just strictly going to college.

However, many college offer health insurance plans. Whether one of these insurance plans are right for you or not takes a lots of deliberation.

college health benefits are going to vary from campus to campus. Although many people think that they are free, but this is not true. While there is usually no charge for an office visit and routine checkups, the student will have to pay for lab work and other specialist type of visit.

If you have pre-existing condition, then you may have a problem with getting treatment at the college health center. Having pre-existing illness or disability does not mean that you will not qualified for obtaining a college health insurance plan, but you may not be able to get treatment for that pre-existing illness.

In the college I attend, we get to pay for health insurance every academic session and this helps a lot as we do not spend money on our health any more. Any time we fall sick, all we need to do is to go to the medical center and they will attend to us for free.

That is good. In every college, I think there is a need for this type of health insurance because as I said most people in the colleges are mature enough that their parents insurance does not cover them any longer so if the college does not offer them a health insurance plans then it will be troubling.

I am very sure this can’t be happening in my country, probably the USA or some of those developed countries. Well it is a good idea to help college students with some insurance policies. But what I do need to know about this insurance policy is that, will the insured student still have to pay the insurance premium.

There is actually a government created health insurance platform for students around here and it is actually very cost-effective. Every academic year we are required to pay 3500 naira for health insurance and we normally do pays together with the school fees. It covers a lot of things like drugs and laboratory investigations up to some minor surgeries.
