The job that would be most needed in the next ten years would be that of a registered nurse, who provides medical care and health services to patients or clients and upholds professional standards. These professionals also provide patient education on specific health-related topics. They must also have good organizational skills and be able to multitask. Although this profession is not for everyone, it does offer many different opportunities for careers in many different fields of study, like nursing assistant or physical therapist assistant.
The United States needs an increased number of registered nurses in all professions because it is quickly becoming a society with more geriatric patients as well as an increase in the number of people being treated with general anesthesia. The benefits of this profession are that registered nurses use their professional skills and knowledge to ensure proper patient care and safety. They also provide some basic medical services such as preparing medications and assisting in surgeries. Registered nurses must be good communicators, which is important in exploring new methods of treatment or when explaining procedures to patients. Registered nurses must also have good listening skills because they have to listen carefully to the needs of patients as well as be able to understand the patient’s background, previous medical history, medication information, and other pertinent information.
Registered nurses have a lot of responsibility because they are expected to be competent when treating non-nursing clients or patients who are not related to them, especially in emergency situations.
