It is common knowledge that one if the major challenges faced by organizations and employers is the ability to retain staff. It has gotten so bad that some organization struggle to keep their highly skilled staff beyond one year. Staff loyalty is now a mirage. I hear employers complain about how their staff are leaving within a year or so of being employed. Why is employee loyalty very hard to come by these days?

The first reason why staff incessantly leave organizations these days is the display of no job security orchestrated by most organizations. Many organizations have been firing staff with reckless abandon and this has create an impression on the mind of staff generally that jobs are not secure any longer. Why would a staff be loyal to an organization that might end up not being loyal to him?

Another factor that contributes to low retention of staff is the fact that some organizations don't value the welfare of their staff. They don't provide renumeration that is in accordance with the reality of the times and they don't provide opportunities for career growth. The staff in an organization would jump at the first site of a job with a good pay package because of the poor salaries they get from their current employers.
