When I had seen the movie Money Monster, the whale is the executive of the corporation that owns the stocks. The public was urged to buy the said stocks to earn a profit. But the executive has divested himself of the stocks in favor of a business in Africa.

The price of the stocks fell down and that started the story when a disgruntled ordinary investor took hostage the tv network that shows the news on the stocks. The movie’s plot can be similar to crypto that a whale will suddenly sell all his crypto so the price will sink and later on he will again buy a big volume to increase the price. I am not saying that the whales will manipulate the price of crypto but it certainly can be done.

Elon Musk is world's third-richest man. He was once world's richest man. He can manipulate the price of crypto currencies. He has done it multiple times, he was even summoned by SEC for his alleged role in market manipulation. Currently, bitcoin is at $35000. However, just in 24 hours bitcoin can go beyond $40K if a big investor announces that he has invested 2 billion on Bitcoin.
