There's a lot of talk about workplace accountability, but what does it actually mean? What are the benefits of high employee accountability? And how do you achieve it in your own company?

In this article, I'll answer all those questions and more so you can begin building employee accountability in your own organization.

What Is Employee Accountability?

Employee accountability is an employee's willingness to take responsibility for their actions. It's an important trait in any workplace because it ensures that everyone is held accountable for their behavior and decisions.

Accountability comes in many forms, including:

Productivity: Being productive at work is a key component of employee accountability. If an employee isn't producing results on a consistent basis, they're probably not going to be very effective in their role. It takes time for new hires to get up to speed and adapt to their new environment, but if they aren't performing after several months on the job, it's a problem that we should attend to urgently.

Quality: Quality is another important aspect of employee accountability — if you're not performing at an acceptable level or meeting customer expectations, then you're not being held accountable for your performance as an employee.
