Migraines

Migraines are severe, recurrent headaches that have the potential to be debilitating. They can make it difficult for a child to focus in school or participate in normal daily activities. But there are things parents can do to help their child with migraines. If your kid has a headache that comes on suddenly and hurts intensely—especially if it lasts for more than a few hours—it could be a migraine. If your kid also experiences nausea or vomiting, sensitivity to light or sound, and/or temporary vision problems, that could also indicate a migraine.

Things To Do

Make a Plan
Work together with your child and your doctor to create a management plan.

Stay Organized
keep track of your child's headaches and get an idea of what triggers them.

Find the Right Treatment
There may be several options for treating your child's migraines, so talk to your doctor about which one is best for your child.

Pain Relievers
Most doctors recommend pain relievers (like ibuprofen) or sleep as treatments for migraines in kids, but there are other options, too.

Migraines can be very painful and difficult for children to manage, as a parent you should take right measures to give them relief.
