As a child, we all grew up listening to the constant wailings of our mothers during festivities and Christmas and New year were the most recurrent festivities which . These festivities were greatly celebrated by the younger generation and lots of kids spent hours moving from home to home visiting their friends. They often got back to their various homes with little bags of all manner of snacks. Kids who were fortunate to be part of the preparation process always had a painful and bloated tommy a day before the actual occasion due to their constant eating of uncooked flour.
Foods made of flour are not the only foods to be avoided during festivities, there is a wide range of meals that should not be touched during feasts due to their delicate nature and others that are a problem to most people on their own.
this is a brief but guiding list on what should be avoiding this festive season.
- Pastries
Many would prefer to go for a pastry, peanuts , or anything quick ignoring the high levels of carbohydrates and sugars that can cause blood sugars to increase greatly, besides these meals will cause you to feel lethargic and long for more sugar.

-Onions and Garlic
During this period, interaction is very high and ranges from peer to peer and the last thing you want is for your breath to smell when you are kissing your groom or greeting your guests. When we consume garlic and onions, the bad breath will linger for hours even if we eat mints or use a mouth wash.
This is because odor molecules from these foods enter the bloodstream and reach the lungs, causing an unpleasant smell when we exhale.

-Fried foods
Oily foods can cause low energy levels and tiredness. Instead of reaching for a handful of fries, choose to eat foods like avocados or nuts to bolster your energy.

-Raw Vegetables
Avoid eating too much raw vegetables before your big day. An extra load of fiber can cause gassiness if your digestive enzyme levels are low.

-Tin or carbonated Drinks
Carbonated drinks can irritate your stomach. Go for warm water or tea to prevent bloating!
