I don't know if this assertion holds for the movie industries in every other country. But in Nigeria where I base, Nollywood as the Nigerian movie industry is called, the trend is that the actresses are always richer than the actors. A tier 3 actress is almost as rich if not richer than a Tier A actor. This has generated serious debates and controversies over the years.
Is it that the actresses are generally better paid than their male counterparts? Or that female movie stars have more endorsement deals than guys in the industry. Or is it that there is a gender divide in the sector?
I got speaking with an upcoming actor and he told me that it is because of the lack of top quality actresses. That is why the few ones that excel are paid a premium. Please share your thoughts. What is the basis that actresses are doing better financially than actors?
